The IDF issues an evacuation warning for the entire coastal Lebanese city of Tyre and its outskirts, including a Christian neighborhood that until now had not faced such orders.
Last week, the IDF asserted that dozens of Hezbollah operatives were hiding within Tyre’s Christian neighborhood, warning them: “If you continue to remain and operate from within this area, the Israel Defense Forces will issue instructions to evacuate the Christian neighborhood and will take the necessary actions against you.”
This morning, the IDF published an “urgent warning to the residents of the city of Tyre, including the Christian quarter, and the camps and neighborhoods surrounding it.”
Residents of the area are instructed to evacuate to north of the Zahrani River.
“As we warned in recent days, following Hezbollah operatives’ activities within the city’s Christian quarter, the IDF will be compelled to act against their terror activities in the neighborhood in the near term,” warns army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee.
“Your presence near Hezbollah operatives, facilities, or weapons puts your lives at risk. Any building used by Hezbollah for military purposes may be subject to targeting,” he adds.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
