Mamdani condemns ‘F**k Jews’ graffiti on Brooklyn sidewalk

Graffiti reading ‘F**k Jews’ is spraypainted on a sidewalk in Brooklyn, drawing condemnation from New York City’s mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani.

The graffiti was discovered on Friday night, according to New York City Council member Lincoln Restler, who is Jewish. Restler writes that city employees cleaned up the graffiti by Saturday morning.

“Anti-Semitic incidents are a majority of the hate crimes in NYC. All NYers – including Jewish NYers – must feel safe,” Restler posts on X.

Monthly police statistics in the city show that Jews are routinely the victims of the majority of hate crimes.

“There is no space or tolerance for hate in our community. I will continue to do whatever I can to condemn and combat anti-Semitism in every possible way,” Restler writes.

Mamdani also condemns the graffiti, writing, “Another horrific act of antisemitism on our streets. We cannot stand for this.”

Mamdani, a far-left, anti-Israel candidate, won the city’s mayoral election earlier this month following warnings from a chorus of Jewish leaders and organizations that his longtime harsh criticism of Israel could fuel a rise in antisemitism in New York City.

The mayor-elect has repeatedly pledged to fight antisemitism in the city, including by increasing funding for efforts to combat it. Immediately following his election, he condemned swastika graffiti on a Jewish day school in Brooklyn.

Restler endorsed Mamdani ahead of the election.
