A US military helicopter gunship went down in the area of the Strait of Hormuz yesterday with its two crew members safely rescued, the New York Times reports.

The report, citing two individuals with knowledge of the incident, says it is unclear if the Apache was shot down, experienced a technical issue, or went down for some other reason.

The newspaper says neither the White House nor the US military’s CENTCOM commented on the report.
